Need a two year aviation degree school
A friend of mine has a 22 year old son. He already has his ICAO PPL but their family went through hard times and they don't have the money anymore. He is looking for a 2 year college where he can get his training and education financed through Fed loans.
All the colleges I know have either four year degree programs where flight training is incorporated, or they have a two year degree program that doesn't include flight training.
I was considering Big Bend CC in Moses Lake, WA for him but a school in an area with better flying weather will be his choice. He also wants to be close to a metro area where he can work while he is attending college.
Any suggestions? Anywhere in lower 48 is fine, he is really flexible.
Thanks..

Texas State Technical College has a great program, and accepts VA benefits. (Not sure if that pertains to them or not) and is one of the cheaper 2 year programs in the country. You can also take your two year and finish and get a four year from Baylor or Texas A&M-Central Texas in Killeen. (Baylor's going to be the more expensive option though...)

Tarrant County College (TCC) is also starting up a new program out of Alliance Airport.

Big Bend or Lane CC are good programs
Big Bend is a very good program. The flying weather east of the Cascade mountains is, as someone else stated, very competitive with anywhere else outside of Arizona or Southern California.
Lane Community College has a very good two-year program (disclosure, I work for them). We have great instrument weather, and the VFR weather is pretty good too, especially if you want to fly over the summer. Going up in actual IMC is great training, and not possible most of the time in Arizona.
Good luck!
