Okay, I didnt realize I would need 250 hours. I guess there is no way around that. My goal is really just to land any flying job, presumably starting at cfiing then regional airline. I am also interested in applying to AF guard or reserve units as a pilot or nav during or after training.
So 250X100/hour I guess 25 k might be more realistic?

This assumes minimum hours and the rate stays the same. At that rate how good is the maintenance and will the plane still be flying? At a part 141 school you can do it in less hours but the rate is probably much higher. Start making as many connections as you can so when you get the commercial and CFI you can get work. Aerial survey and banner tow are good ways to build time as well.

I think they have like 8 planes so I dont think they would all break down. I guess I have to just take a leap of faith and go for it. It isnt like my career prospects are great now anyway.

$65 might be dry rate. Confirm on that. And then you have to include the cost of books and materials required for training. Those don't come cheap. then the cost of written test and examiner fee. Drop in another 2 K just for the fees.

And then you do have to get a multi rating. that would be expensive as well.

But I would keep 35-40 k on the safe side (this is just upto CPL)

U cant do single commercial on a 150-152. Need a complex aircraft later on that would be $125 and above.

they are many other cost involved.

Go join the military and forget the civilian route if possible. You are looking at 40-60k and a year at the very least to get to the cfi. Go military and all you have to do is take written to get the cfi IIRC.

Yes it is 65 wet, I am not sure where I am underestimating costs, I know there are test fees and ground school and headset, ect, but I am estimating 100per hour at 250 hours 25k should be doable right. Because it wont cost more than 85/per hour with an instructor, and for a lot of the hours I will be solo and just pay the 65 I guess,so there is a lot of fluff built into that 100/hour 25k estimate. If I am wrong on this please elaborate how so I know.
Also yes in theory military training would be nice, but as a college grad my options are limited(no rotc or academy), AF just cancelled all OTS boards and it was super competitive anyways. Who knows maybe after private or instrument I will get on with a reserve unit. I dont really know what the climate is in the other branches, but assumed they probably are getting hit with budget drawbacks too.
I really cant figure out how most people get into this as a career being so expensive, how did you all go about getting all the money to do it? I know there are lots of flight school so there must be some market

You get a commercial cert with an instrument rating when getting your wings if you take the equivalency exams. You have to have been an instructor in the military to get any of the instructor certificates.
There are informative threads in the military section with detailed information.

well if it is wet, you are getting a really good deal.

i would say get your ppl first. if you get it below 6000$(including books and supplies) then you should be able to get your commercial within 25k. and 20$ for instructor does that remain same for multi,.instrument and commercial?
and you do need to do ground classes too.
but u should get your ppl first. you will get an idea about the costs related and how things works out. instructors would charge for pre and post briefs. etc.
