Default ATP with type rating or just ATP

I may be back in the job market soon and a lot of the jobs(135, Corporate) require an ATP to apply. My background is 135 freight, corporate flying small twins and aerial survey. Regionals are not an option.

I looked into All ATP in Denver and for the 10 hour course is about 5 grand. I will need the 10 hour course , I am not really current in small twins been flying a 208 a little. So if I have to spend 5 grand anyway I was thinking how much more would the cheapest type rating cost ? Maybe do some flying in flight school sim to get my scan back then pay for the ATP and type. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

$5 grand, seems excessive. What's your local FBO situation? Unless you've lost all your skill, it shouldn't take you 2-5hrs max to be ATP check ride ready. Just remember the check ride is just like your initial 135 ride, glorified comm/inst ride. I assume the written is already taken?

Just remember a type rating w/o time in type is like tits on a bull.....worthless

The cheapest type is going to be a 737. It's been a few years since I saw the price but say around 8 grand. All the biz jet types run a lot more because there are only two venders.

Local FBO twin wont be ready until end of Feb so I have to drive to Greeley or Denver for training and written. I only flew 89 hours last year, and that was all VFR aerial survey. I really haven't been in the IFR world in a 5 years nor flown a twin due the aerial survey work so I am rusty.I was thinking the ten hours would be enough ie no rush etc

For about 3k more than the AATPs, Higher Power has a 737 type.

It's a 2ish week program. I'm going down to do that once I get my schedule sorted (changing employers).

I went to the KAPA AATPs if you want intel on the local operation there.
