This is pretty common. You wouldn't be on the seniority list, but would likely have a chance to interview later on. The pay probably isn't great, but if you're young and inexperienced, you might consider it pretty good. Most airlines at some point have some/a few/all/some combination of instructors that are not line pilots. It's cheaper.
