Default Time building towards the regionals

Does anyone have any info regarding flight training loans?
I currently have around 350/75
I'm planning on going into the regionals (yes, as bad as you
all say they are). I'm fairly young, 19.
Any advice as to building up towards 500/500tt either through
single or multi engine (which would perhaps be the better way, not
the cheaper) WITHOUTH taking the CFI route??

All the help welcome!

please also take into considerations that not all the airlines hire
under 21. (is this for insurance reasons)

...go the CFI route...

It's cheaper...and you get to fly both...

Oh...and you learn a METRIC-$HIT-TUN too!...moreso than just runnin' the engines for a couple 'hundred hours...

Also...once you upgrade to captain...you will be able to cope with flying with a white-knuckled 'green' FO.

Yep, CFI. You will get paid, not end up paying. You will learn more than most other routes.

If you really don't want to instruct, go fly jumpers or something.

I know you learn tons of info through the CFI route....
but like I said, I dont wanna end up being 25 when im deciding to finally go into the regionals. I'm only 19. If I could get into the regionals with this age, by the time I'm 25, I could have a big advantage perhaps.
Eventhough I am still considering the CFI route, already took my written exams. Just wondering If it's not better to just get a block of time and just join the regionals.
Though I only know colgan and tsa hiring under 21....not many :-(

You won't be 25 when you go to the regionals. What everyone is saying is that the lessons and experience you get while giving flight instruction is worth the extra time it takes to fly for an airline. Now flight instruction is not for everybody, so don't just get it cause we say so.

I know it's not for everybody...
Becoming a CFI to get quick hrs into the airlines.....hmm...
Is that ethical? lol...
I know what u mean mista. The way I'm doing it now is just
flying with ppl whenever I get a chance. I already lost a few months worth by not doin much, so I'm considering buying a block of time, either single or twin, and then start applying at the regionals....crappy lifestyle, crappy pay, who cares...lol...your still flying...plus i dont have a family yet....hehe

Exactly, you won't be 25 and instructing, unless you choose to.

I used to think the same way you did Shanejj --- get to the regionals ASAP...but then my father encouraged me to get my flight instructor certificates just to try it out. In retrospect, I don't regret it one bit! I am having a blast teaching, and I am making just as much, if not more than a 1st year FO for a regional.

So all in all, slow down a little bit, take your time. I will be 23 later this year, and I will have surpassed most, if not all of the MINS for the regionals by then...

Look at me...I'm not 25 and I am already there!

Just take our 2 cents into concideration. We are all responding because we've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt...

Hang in there...

If you are 19 and are afraid of not getting to a regional until you are 25, you are way off. I started as a CFI right after I passed the checkride (about 8 months ago) and I am waiting for my ground school date. You don't have to instruct for many years, just long enough to get the time to get an interview at the airline that you want to go. I could have instructed for less time if I wanted to go to another airline. All you need is another 200tt and Great Mistakes will take you. Worst case basis, you will have to instruct until you are 21, but by then, you will have a lot of options.
