I don't think everybody does hate Riddle. I think most of the hatred is directed toward the cocky Riddle dorks who are still in flight training and think they're special.
I graduated from there in '01 and have had no problems with anybody disliking ERAU. I really liked my experience there; I spent 3 years at University of Oregon before transferring to Riddle to finish my bachelor's. The education quality was at least 5x better at ERAU than at UofO.
That was reason enough for me. I probably wouldn't have graduated at U of O because I was so bored and couldn't learn with 200 people in my classes (of which only 50 showed up except for on test days). At ERAU we had 30 students in class and at least 29 would show up almost every day.

This topic is getting really annoying, and i think i know why.....
In my experience on this subject, I have found 4 types of people:

First the bad people:
1. people who go to ERAU who think they know everything. Most of them think they deserve some kind of magnificant treatment or amazing job because they graduated from riddle, and they think they are superior to anyone else with a pilot's license. Absolutely disgusting.
2. people who did not attend ERAU, and when they meet ERAU graduates they AUTOMATICALLY JUDGE THEM without getting to know the actual person. Even more disgusting.

Now the good people:
3. people who graduate from ERAU with the mental attitude that they dont know everything. These people understand that there is no possible way someone could know everything, and further more, these people are usually pleasant people to work with and socialize with (yes socialize, some of them are even fun to be around!). And believe it or not, some of them are actually good pilots.
4. people who hold judgement until after getting to know someone reguardless of the school attended. These people realize that even though there are many bad ones out there, its not everyone.

So what is the real problem?? Attitude. Alot of people out there have BAD ATTITUDES.

Its not about the school you go to, its your attitude that makes you a good or bad person. I know there are many people who graduate from ERAU with bad attitudes. There are many people who never attended ERAU who have bad additudes as well. Not everyone who went to ERAU is a bad person though, I went there, I have seen many of the bad ones, and i know what many of you are talking about. But its not everyone.

As sad as this topic makes me, the only thing that is worse than a cocky riddle grad, is someone who automatically judges and sterotypes someone before getting to know them. I know this is just a forum and there is alot more room for poking, teasing, and even name calling (i thought you were adults?), but if some of you take these same attitudes to the line, you are probably a difficult person to work with reguardless of the school you attended.

So which person are you?

What.......that was the best part about college! If it weren't for classes like that I would have never been able to fly as much as I did during college. Lets see go to class or get free flight time (also got paid) flying to transport props across the state for overhaul....hmmm? Also I would have never been able to drink as much as I did in college if I had to go to class every day!

It's the same at ATP. It's the low-time pilot generating mill. Can you believe the prices they are charging these kids (way more than the going rate). You are better off going to a college, flying at an FBO, fly some 135, then move on to the regionals. You will command more respect from other pilots and you will have money saved to make it through the first year flying for 20k at the regionals.

I am currently going to riddle, only have one semester left and I really do enjoy it.
Yea its over-priced, but you get what you pay for I think in that situation. I think there is a reason 25% of the commercial pilots out there went to ERAU. Also, there are some stuck up kids who come out of there, but also, from what it seems, thoes are the ones who take the longest to get hired due to thier superiority complex.

I think the meaning inherent in the term "overpriced" is that you don't get what you pay for.

If "getting what you pay for" means student loan payments in excess of your net income for about five years after graduating, then you're right. If it means a career advantage justifying $12,745 a semester, then you're wrong. Prepare for a reality check once that grace period expires, and your career path is no different from the guy who paid a fourth what you did in college.

25% of the commercial pilots out there went to ERAU.
What makes you think so? Oh, right...ERAU says so.
