Not to worry... that means that there's another cargo whale in somebody's future.

Too bad they did'nt choose to keep 4 or 5 for posterity sake.
My husband told me that the crews used to wear white gloves which he found interesting ,dont know if they do that anymore.

All of the Japanese crews still wear the gloves and I would say that 50-60% of the foreign crews still in Japan wear them too..(I personally love wearing them while flying)

Don't knock it until you try it

He wears the cheap cotton gloves...the real pilots wear only the JAPA approved deer leather gloves. Which by the way, do not come in gaijin size... Unless you have girly hands.

I worked @ Jal for 17 years in another life and didn't wear the gloves. None of the other 747 guys I knew wore them either. They were worn for T/O and from TOD, I don't know the real story behind them. Since they weren't issued to the Foreigners ,we were not required to wear them.

Even in flight schools in Japan meke cadets use white gloves, because if you are not using the gloves during your check ride, JCAB check airman can have poor image of you, and that can lead you to fail your exam. It is a tradition from Japanese aviation. Personaly I like the tradition, if you look at Japanese registered aircraft`s cockpit, they are all really clean!

Stop thinking in a sad way Ally. Remember that if one airline closes then the next one opens that the way it is. If your husband was a contractor then obviously at JAl obviously could not expect to be hired at permanent basis or you know like being a real member of the crew. I had a friend from JAl many years ago when I was younger, he used to tell many funny stories like about a guy from Northern europe who keeps writing to him, but a person had some minor criminal problems with his life attitude, and every time I met a person, he again told me that other person is writing I am not so sure if his own police was not interested with that other person I can not say that. And we had met couple of times, at a time, I decided to help him, because I started to have the remorses, and at the interview With Europe I said that I am having the remorses because one of the American Capt he was good person a little bit funky about life, is reading both of us at the same time, about our daily problems, and i can not stand it anymore because its sounds like we are using a friend's patience and that he has two kids, he was divorced, and really I can not live a person on a spot. At a time knowing predicting non future of this entire JAL, and two little kids at home, I decided to take the action . Since he did not have a crime record at all, was just a good person a fellow. Till now I remember his excitement about this other person who was writing this happiness on his face about flying, he was very polite a little bit confused. However, this JAl person will never know that it was me who decided to help him. And that was a good base in Europe. No criminal records at all, without further chances of flying, was stationed at the base in Europe while being in military. I said straight that the other option, which was less interesting was Africa because I am African as well, with a blond pony tail. And I thought this way all right whatever happens, then I can return to Africa to my house not neccessarily flying but I can work for the gvt and he could fly around. So you mustn't worry so much there are next doors open always. Yes I like to fly helicopters, but had never been interested in flying seriously in Japan at all, just because . Feeling tired sometimes reading these blogs really and these hopes. Melu
