Regency Express, a large Saab 340 outfit down in Aussie will be in the US conducting assessments in Oct? At the Flight Safety Houston centre.
Apparently advertising for pilots with right to work in Oz, but will help 'suitable' candidates with permits. Might be worth an ask as to what 'suitable' constitutes if one wants a bit of a down under adventure.
Kenny is the guy to ask about SYD based costs. I'd take BNE or one of the outlying domiciles as far as expenses and cost of living; BNE being a good mix of reasonable costs and very good family lifestyle.

Hey Koru,
In PER trying to get some sleep before a red eye to MEL tonight and I'm in the hotel all of tomorrow. PM me and we'll work out having a chat.
As far as Rex is concerned, the last time I tried to explain how expensive Sydney is, I was essentially told I didn't know what I was talking about. Anyway, what I can do is give a run down of what I get each month at Virgin and what ends up leaving my wallet. At least that way when you look at the Rex pay, you can see how far it'll go.
I should have time tomorrow.

Kenny, will do mate. . . you around SYD Wednesday? I'm through on one of those AKL-SYD-TBU-AKL nightmares you have to look forward to when all the Aussie flying goes to VAA.
But enough about me, I'll pm ya'll.

A bit dated (2010), but still an interesting read.

I asked around about this overseas opportunity when they first posted in April 2012 and was greeted by some sobering information.
They are hiring ex-pats to get around their current CBA with their pilot union and subsequently, the pilots who are being bypassed for upgrade consider the ex-pats to be scabs. It is not a good situation there.
Clearly they cannot fill the seats...
