You can also get a Canadian ATP license by taking a written ATP test, you will require a Canadian first class medical prior to taking the test. There are test prep websites/books to help prepare for the test. The test is only 20 questions but you have to prepare as the regs. are different. The Canadians will accept a foreign ICAO state approved type rating and place it on your Canadian license. You can then take this Canadian license with all your types and go to a FSDO and they will issue you a FAA type based upon the Canadian license. The reciprocal license agreement between Canada and the US supports this. It is a bit of a paper/bureaucratic shuffle but is a far cheaper way of doing it if you have the time and patience. Many pilots go to the Vancouver Transport Canada office and also visit a Canadian doctor there but many large Canadian cities provide this service, wherever is convenient for you.
