Question Korean Airspace

In light of recent developments, do you guys experience any route changes and/or airspace closures? Did FAA come up with anything for the US operators?

Went up B467 the end of last week, no problems. We're already limited to ops east of 132 degrees East in Pyongyang FIR.

Thus far all our flights into Incheon and thru their airspace have been normal.

Even though the USA spends TONS of it's tax payer's money (maybe it's China's; Who could tell with no budget) on The Republic of South Korea, the FAA has no authority to say what goes on with their airspace.

Palm tree Pilot,

Hate to tell you this, but the FAA could most assuredly place restrictions on US operators or US-certificated pilots flying in DPRK airspace. Those restrictions are in place for Libya and Iraq, last time I checked five months ago. An exemption, or exception to policy, has to applied for and coordinated with DoS.

I never said anything about the DPRK. Your right, infact SFAR 79 is in place restricting flight into DRPK airspace. Unless a war actually starts, the DOD and DOT are not going to attempt to intrude on South Korea's sovereignty by regulating their airspace.

Hard to believe Galaxy Flyer. I have been multiple times to ORER and ORBI in the last year. Also just took a freight into HLLT.

I didn't say impossible, I said restrictions for which exemptions are possible. I've been asked to plan trips into OR, you presently need a US Government interest to get the exemption. That from the FAA office in charge of them.
