Default Sentient Flight Group

Does anyone have any experience working for Sentient Flight Group-- is it small/medium/large operators under a big umbrella? each having it's own set of pilots etc. or is it more of a solid unit? I know JetDirect figures in the picture as well.

Sentient flight group is not really a fractional. They are a P135 carrier and the second largest in the country only to Flexjet. There aircaft are on demand charter and there is no schedule. Every aircraft has a different owner therfore a different employment deal on every aircraft. I have heard of alot of owners leaving as a result of the lack of personal service that they are used to by a management company.

Stay away. They owe the charter company I work for over 150K. I've also heard they owe some folks over 750K. They are over 60 days late with us.

Charter Industry Changes May Have Significant Effects

By Matt Thurber
July 8, 2008
Charter

Charter volume is dropping significantly in some markets, according to information provided to AIN by charter industry insiders. Recent increases in the size of the business aviation fleet are contributing to this problem, said William Quinn Jr., chairman of Aviation Management Systems in Portsmouth, N.H. “If the demand stays the same or even grows just a smidgen,” he explained, “the supply is going [to grow] at a far greater rate than the demand.

Most all of the fractional players have matured to the point where they are beyond the so-called critical mass. So their need for charter has dropped off considerably in the past three to five years and I think that will continue.

We are also in an election year, and that tends to cause people to back off on making buying and spending decisions. Changes in the charter business may be having an effect on one of the largest charter/management companies, Sentient Flight Group.

Charter industry sources report that Sentient is experiencing cash-flow problems and that leadership changes may be imminent. One source reported that some vendors have placed Sentient on cash-on-delivery status.

A Sentient spokesman offered “no comment” when asked about these issues.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Sentient started as another Jet card provider, using random charter aircraft to fill its customer's needs. However the last several years has seen Sentient on a buying spree, snapping up 135 operators. These operations (Atlantic, RACM, JetDirect, TAG..) have continued to run on their own 135 certificates, with sepearate crews, aircraft, etc...but are currently being brought onto 1 common certificate ( I believe it is the former Atlantic Aviation Flight Services certificate.) The "new" operation will carry the Sentient name on the certificate.

Sentient Jet was purchased and owned by JetDirect Aviation. In light of significant cash-flow problems, the CEO of the company, Steve Hankin, was ousted. Now, JetDirect has now just announced that Sentient is to be sold to an Australian-based investment firm.

While I won't offer a whole lot in the way of details, I will say that I was employed by JetDirect/Sentient Flight Group, and that I would never work for that organization again. And, I would strongly advise you not to work for them either.

I'm not defending Sentient, but it's not that out of the ordinary for a large company to be behind in bills. i know an attorney that handles walmarts finances, and they are one of the worst.
