The gateways they are hiring into are on the Avantair.com website.

Current Gateways
Burbank, CA (BUR)
Columbus, OH (CMH)
Denver, CO (DEN)
Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (DFW)
Houston, TX (IAH)
Indianapolis, IN (IND)
Las Vegas, NV (LAS)
Los Angeles, CA (LAX)
Chicago, IL (MDW)
New Orleans, LA (MSY)
Phoenix, AZ (PHX)
St Louis, MO (STL)
Tucson, AZ (TUS)

In talking with the people involved with recruiting and the new hires, I have heard 30+ more pilots to be hired for the year. With over 1500 resumes, they say it is part luck to get selected for the review, but after that it is all about your resume/cover letter presentation. If your resume is reviewed you either get an email rejection or a phone call. After the phone call it is either an email rejection or you may get an offer to come to Florida. The interview day is spent learning more about Avantair and answering questions. After the interview you get a phone call with either a training class date or the thank you for attending but… discussion.

The new hires have said that it is a relaxing interview, but that not everyone made it through with a training offer. They said they are not trying to hire astronauts, rocket scientists, sky gods or prima donnas. They are looking for experienced pilots with quality PIC time that understand that fractional aviation is a demanding high end service industry. People skills are an absolute must. The flying backround of those hired seem to vary. "Fractional isn’t for everyone" is a theme that is repeated through out the interview process. If consistent routine, scheduled flying, and easy days are among your requirements for a flight job, run away from fractional as quickly as you can!!!

Unfortunately, I missed the application window otherwise I would have applied. I know someone interviewing next week. Furloughed regional FO with about 2800TT, mostly SIC time. Not sure if he had an internal recommendation.

There is, indeed, a PBI gateway which is currently closed. No idea when it would open again.

Any idea why they closed PBI in the first place?

How does everyone like the FSI training at PBI?

Manangement has decided they wanted even out the distribution of pilots around the country. We already have a large number is pilots in the SE due to HQ being located in PIE. Rather then asking pilots to move they have chosen to hire into places they want to fill.

I havent been through FSI in a few years so I couldnt help you on that. It was OK when I went 3 years ago....... Avantair has made some changes in the training so its hard to say. I think using the sim is going to be a great thing for our training.

Thank you all of the Avantair guys who have been gracious enough to share information about the hiring process. I was fortunate enough to receive the call for the initial telephone screening last week. Unfortunately, I received the "Thank you for Interest" email today telling me the I was not being selected for the in person interview. Good luck to the guys with upcoming interviews.

What kind of questions were they asking?
