Avantair

It was about a 15-20 minute call. It was laid back. Benefits were described. Salary was discussed. The hiring process was discussed. Estimated upgrade time of 3-5 years was mentioned. We spent a little time discussing my gateway selection and the commuter policy. I am pretty sure the fact that I was upfront with them and let them know that I would be commuting did not help.
These are the questions that I can remember:
Tell me about yourself in a couple of minutes.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
How would you insure that you are rested for 14 hour duty days?
What do you know about Avantair?
What do you know about the Avanti?
What makes you more qualified for this position than all of the other applicants that we are talking with?
Is the starting salary acceptable?
If upgrade to captain were to take 5 years would you be ok with that?
My background is part 91 and part 135 with management experience in both. I have about 5000 hours total time, 3600 multi, 370 turbine (mostly sic)

I don't know. That is the only part of the conversation that did not seem to go well. I was perfectly happy with commuting to one of the open Gateways that is a 6 hour drive from my house (I am less than 2 hours from one of the closed Gateways.), but it did not seem to sit well that I was not willing to relocate. Of course, this is a very tight job market. That may not be it at all, it just may be that I was not the best choice out of those that interviewed this time.

Avantair does have a commuter policy on the books. However, if you are coming from 121 then it's a bit different than you're used to.
We have no jumpseat agreements with anybody.
So, with that said, you would need a spouse working at an airline or be just outside the two hour limit with a relative (or someone willing to put you up) in the gateway, or have the means to transport yourself and put yourself up in gateway for days if necessary, for it to really help you out.
Good luck to all...
