Good luck with everything! I have been waiting for the rest of my uniform to show up! I finished a/c training on Feb 26 and have been off at home since then. As soon as I get the rest of my uniform I can start ioe. Take care.

Dude, that is so awesome!! I have only received half of my uniform also. Hopefully I can get another vacation after sim trng. It looks we will go straight to IOE, no a/c trng. I think its better that way.

Yeah, a/c training wasn't really worth a whole week of time. I haven't started ioe yet, so I don't know what kind of pace that will bring. They say that a/c training is just a familiarization ride, but at this level I don't think many of us need that! I felt comfortable right away, just another jet with different numbers and switches.

I hear ya. This is my 5th a/c initial from Flight Safety. I feel bad I havent been studying that much but at this point an airplane is an airplane. Numbers and switches, pitch=big houses and little houses. haha! But all this week I have been doing lots of reading. Most of us came from the airlines and feel the a/c trng is a waste of company $$$. It will be nice to go right to the line.

I've been trying to think of a subtle way to respond on this thread. From the multitude of airline guys I have flown with, they all agree that the job on this side is a lot harder than the 121 side. A plane is a plane, but the operational aspects are vastly different. Take your time.

PS....Welcome aboard ASA and egl

Thanks NJC. I would 150% agree with you there. I never said the flying is the same, only another training program at FS. Everything after the type rating is completely different. But learning an airplane, flying a sim s/e down to mins is the same to me. On line is a whole different story. I am waiting impatiently to see how things are done on-line. It seems a lot like military type flying to me, one game plan that always changes into something completely different.

ASACapt,
I feel I'm in the old same boat you were in. I'm junior Capt at Express and commute from DFW-EWR. Netjets sounds great. I did corporate in a citation before Express, so I have an idea how it works. The concern for me is all the posts on the base situation. I would need DFW, like you have.

Your advise please

I agree with you as well NJA Capt. I know I will learn plenty during ioe, mostly taking care of the back 1/2 of the plane. The flying will fall into place is what I am trying to say. The flying part is like riding a bike, but taking care of the pax will be the learning part.

Only thing that can have an effect on the pucker factor are the occasional 3500x40 runways. ASE and TEX etc in some wx and winds. uncontrolled non radar fields in the islands. I think NJACapt was trying to say we aren't always going into comfy long runways with control towers and we often operate in what we consider a normality but that 121 guys consider crazy.
Reminds me of a trip a few weeks ago with a furloughed United guy, he was very antsy and was surprised at some of our trips he often said "this trip would be a emergency from blockout time at United"
Its amazing what you can get use to I guess.
But as you said a plane is a plane I agree, everything takes time to be comfortable with anything new.
Good luck

All of this sounds like a ton of fun. I love the challenge. That is what I love about military flying so much. It is always a challenge. I cant wait to get on-line
