fwiw...I'm home every day at my airline...I'm doing highspeeds this month and each has at least 8 hrs rest...most have 9+. This is not typical, but what I personally have for the month. I go in around 6:30p and am done by about 7:30a and home all day with the fam. However, I don't want to stay here forever and with a 7on7off, I can committ to being a part of certain things that I'm unable to committ to now being a junior CA. I never know what I will have month to month so I can't really make a committment to coach my son's soccer team effectively b/c I won't be able to make both practice and games. With 7/7 I can coach with another dad and we swap weeks of practice/games. Both have pluses and minuses, it just depends on your priorities. I'd say the sched. is the thing that makes me most nervous about frac.s (Though I'm currently waiting to hear from NJ and have my fingers crossed). I HATE 4 day trips and not seeing my fam...I cannot imagine 7. The 7 off sounds great though. I guess it's something you just have to experience
btw. I live in base (HUGE plus for airlines) and got 15 days off this month. Next month I have the above mentioned sched and 12 days off...Definately more time with my family, but can be inconsistant and pays less (regional) with no real future comparitively to NJ

I usually spend most of my 7 off trying to avoid working around the house.

Seriously, it takes a while for me to catch up on the accumulated mail/bills, then playing with my kids and wife takes up most of my time.

I have done substitute teaching and consider it some the hardest work I've ever done. I also occasionally do some counseling work for an aviation career consulting firm.

Stupid question ... at NJ, is there a pay guarantee? For you guys who aren't flying now, are you still getting paid as if you were? Or do you only get paid what you actually fly?

The pay at NetJets is annual salary so it does not matter if you fly 100 hrs or nothing. The only diference is that you won't make any per diem if you stay at home on your days on.

At NJ you are not paid to fly just paid to be available. After I got hired in the spring I went through training and waited 3 months for IOE and since then I have flown maybe 10 hours a tour. It is great unless you are one of those guys that likes to fly a lot.
