Default Question for G-450 pilots/operators

What's a good number to use for direct operating costs on a Gulfstream G-450? Someone I know is half owner of one, and I'm trying to figure out how big a favor I'd be asking for if I needed to use his jet for a particular flight.

I can't give you any exact costs for an owner, but two years ago the price per hour for a G-450 on a Marquis Jet card was over $12000. Granted jet cards charge a higher price than is charged for fractional owners who are charged a higher price than what it costs someone who owns the airplane themself, but when it comes to figuring out how much it actually costs to operate an airplane you must remember that there are a million little details that go into it that don't come immediately to mind- things like insurance and hanger fees and routine mx that all add up really fast and high. The only thing I can say for sure is that it will be a gigantic favor.

I'd bet it would be closer to $5000 / hour.

Try this site:

Direct Operating Costs for Jets

Seem pretty close, just double check current fuel prices.

But remember that FAR's limit how much he can actually collect from you. I think it is twice the cost of fuel. Anything above that he has to eat.

Thanks all - it does look like close to $5000 based on current fuel costs and all the hourly reserves.

Me first. Just need a few thousand more hours, all turbine, and one of his pilots to have an "unfortunate accident". Then it's "put me in coach, I'm ready to play!"

Why would you want to be in coach? I'd want one of the seats up front, or at least First class.
