9 departures a day out of O'Hare. I don't think there's any room for shrinkage.
Lol

Came from someone I trust who has frequent contact with the company who also said a couple months ago that Vegas would open Aug 1st which looks like the truth. It could be total BS, it could be 100% true. I have no effing idea. That's what these boards are for, speculation.

I've seen the same "picture" / rumor about the shrink in denver and it's from somebody I really trust. Honestly it doesn't make long term sense but to help vegas spin up maybe they need they extra staffing. Who knows !

We have too many crews and flights for the amount of gates in Denver. Right now DEN is the chokepoint in the system. Unless we somehow get our gates back that's not going to change.

I really wouldn't worry about getting involuntarily displaced. Indigo is allergic to spending money, especially on its employees. There's no way they plan on spending thousands of dollars per pilot to move crews to LAS. There are quite a few people on the CAP and FO side who prefer LAS to DEN so any attrition will most likely be voluntary.

New email from Jim says "later this year." My bet is first week of August with a VSA coming out either today or Monday.

Is it 60 or 90 days per contract to put out the VSA? I spent an hour on the CBA and couldn't find it.

I'm not sure as to what it says in the contract, as I don't have it handy, but I just looked at all the VSA's from 2017, and all the normal ones (i.e. Not a small bid for dropouts of upgrade) were in the 3 month out range (not exact but close enough) for base transfers.

Hypothetically...

Under the category of "Never Say Never," if a person wanted to live in Vegas, what's a good part of town? I'd be fine with a 50+ neighborhood with few children. A gated community might be nice. Golf course, water, or mountains would be cool. Would want to stay within an hour or so of the airport. Price not hugely critical or constrained because I don't have anything but the house payment pulling on my finances.

I've poked around a bit on realtor.com, but it's tough to know what I'm looking at with no prior knowledge of the area. I'd rather stay away from the mass builder (Lenar, KB Homes, etc.) neighborhoods.

My knowledge of Vegas is limited to airline overnights.

Any suggestions on where to start looking? Thanks in advance.

I hear Summerlin is nice, it's out on the western edge of the city.

Agree with above. Summerlin!

OpenClimb 05-15-2017 04:34 PM

Just poked around the Summerlin website. I'm impressed. 40 minute drive with half the route showing red right now because it's rush hour. Better than what I'm driving now based in DEN.

A change of domicile for me would be a really big deal, so it's a low probability, but who knows with this job. I'd probably only do it if I could be in the top 25-30% and I'd probably wait a year or two to see how it shakes out. Heck, by then the merger with Allegiant might be completed! :-)

Thanks very much for the suggestions.
