Contract Comparison (Excluding: Pay Rates)

So why exactly do you think Frontier pilots have more flexible scheduling options than pilots at other airlines?
It seems to me that when the Company is in an overstaffed situation (like it is now) it’s easy to drop trips, but not so easy to swap or pick anything up as there just isn’t anything in open time or on the pilot trade board. And when the Company is in an understaffed situation then it’s hard to drop trips due to daily drop grids and therefore difficult to move your trips around.

In all, it’s not that impressive.

We have more flexible schedules because we’re required to have 70 hours min credit each month. Meaning great coverage most days of each month for drops, and less open time to trade for. If they eliminate that requirement or drop it to, say 50 hours, there will be less coverage, less drops allowed, and more open time to choose from. The only reason most DOT drops work is because we all have to end the month with 70 credit hours.

Our schedule flexibility is ok... where else are you responsible to make up a transition conflict?? That’s ridiculous... to be in the top 10 in a base and lose out on your only monthly request to someone 2 years junior to you is the antithesis of flexibility and seniority... Southwest gets 14 or 15 days off on reserve... you ever heard of rolling thunder at Delta?? If you are awarded ANY credit and it is dropped for any other reason than you chose to drop it, it should be pay protected... period... seriously... get it out of you heads that our flexibility is better than other airlines... ITS NOT

Yes, this is true at Spirit. You can only work 6 days in a row, and any conflicts between old month and new month have to be dropped from outside in down to a max of 6 working days. Example: if you’re working the last 6 days in NOV and the first 6 days in DEC, scheduling has to drop either the last 6 days in NOV or the first 6 days in DEC, they can’t just drop one middle day. You’re paid for all dropped trips/days. However, if you have a carry-in pairing and it’s dropped due to a transition in the new month, you’re paid only for the new months original credit value, whatever was dropped in the carry-in trip is not paid.
