You have all the options you want. Doesn't mean you will get any of them. If a reserve day is worth x and vacation is worth y then your schedule = z. I don't know what a reserve day equals, but vacation is 35 so. 75-35=40. So if your FDO line can hold a block off of 12 days and still get you 40 hours then I suppose yes you may be able to get that. If not... then no you will not be awarded that line.

All FDO lines are the same value, either 18 or 19 RDPs in the month, just like other RSV lines. RSV days are valued at 4 hours on the drop side, so I would imagine you could cover 7 days with vacation, and maintain your 12 days off. In fact, your 7 days of vacation is nominally 7 hours more valuable than the 7 days of RSV (If you choose to take the full 5 hours per day). Whether you will be paid more or be able to take additional inviolate days, or the exact treatment of all that I don’t know.

The table in the PBS LOA guarantees a minimum number of days off in addition to your vacation/training days. It doesn’t say that is all you will get.

Completely wrong, there’s is zero, none, nada value for a reserve day.

If you have two weeks of vacation that is worth 70 hours to a lineholder you will still have 9 reserve days for a total of 75 hours of credit. You will essentially be sitting 9 days of reserve for around 1/2 hour of credit a day. The FDO hack might work, I’d have to look deeper into it.

Reserves are not on PBS. Nothing changes for a reserve, as far as vacation goes, except you will be getting your next months schedule far later in the previous month.

Then why are they buying the reserve module for PBS?

So the union says that an ‘attractive option’ is for a line holder to bid back to reserve adjacent to a vacation month in order to maximize his days off????

Someone please tell me how this is better than our current work rules and how this is ‘industry leading’......

Read this, it is very important, RESERVES ARE NOT ON PBS. reserves will continue to get screwed on vacation. Turn holders used to get screwed on vacation but now it’s just reserves. Don’t believe me? Ask a rep like I did. They will tell you that reserve days have zero credit value.

When you say reserve is not on PBS, do you mean you can't bid for your days off on reserve in PBS? You'll literally have to paper bid (so to speak) pre determined reserve lines just like we do now?

That’s up to the JPWG, the PBS LOA 3 says that vacation will credit at 5 hours per day. Somehow this won’t apply to reserves, again told to me by a rep, reserves get days not hours like the PBS lineholders. You may very well be able to bid PBS days you want to work, I don’t know or care, but you’re gonna get less for your vacation than a line holder plain and simple.

Look I hate this TA as much as several on here, but. Reserve days off on "vacation" are mentioned, so appropriate the value to the day there.

If you have 7-8 days of vacation then out of the remaining amount of days on you will have 9 days off. So 31 day month. 7 days of vacation. That leaves 24 days. Out of those 24 days 9 days will be off. So a total of 16 days off in a vacation month...a whole 4 more than a normal month. To assign these days "value" take your 40 hours remaining and your 15 days on that makes each day worth 2.66 hours.

Two weeks of vacation in a 31 day reserve month? That means 11 days on for 5 hours pay or just under 1/2 hour of pay per day.

But that is how it works...that is how it is addressed. To say it's not is a little misleading. But it is a big load of horse dung.
