Frontier vs JetBlue
New contract has passed (like it or not). How does it stack up to JB?
Has the retirement changed?
I am in the pool at JB, but would consider Frontier due to living in one of your domiciles (within 40 minutes of airport), versus 2.5 hour drive at JB or a commute. Much more growth at Frontier as well, and possibly much shorter upgrade, especially in junior domicile (where I live).
Input is appreciated.

If you live in a junior domicile, go to Frontier. The quality of life far exceeds the bit less pay at Frontier. You'd have to be really desperate for money to pick a 2.5 hour commute over a 40 minute commute for 10 or 15 dollars an hour

The pay is a lot better now, 401k DC is currently 12% and will work its way up to 15% in 3 years.
Overall JetBlue is a great company. I think Frontier could become be a good airline, and with all the growth I don’t think you would regret coming here.
Im guessing you live in the Philly area, that’s currently the junior base and it’s currently growing the fastest.

It’s not even close...JetBlue.
F9 new TA is junk, vague on work rules, Scheduling, and pay still bottom of the strata we are in.
Unless you are keen on the hotel points you’ll rack up from paying for your own hotel in training, don’t consider F9.
Also growth here well eclipsed by poor planning, awful mgt, and fratricide happy types here (see Proby pilots and recent CA fired....won’t find that at B6 or any outfit that values its pilots).
Good luck.

Like SFA said, it sounds like you are near PHL. If your desire is to stay in the NE I'd pick JetBlue. It has proven over the years to be a much better company. Our new contract, while much improved monetarily, doesn't even come close to JB. An extra 1:50 drive time to NY a couple times a month would not make me pick Frontier over JetBlue. What people don't realize is you can make the same money there work 1 less day each month, that would make up for a little more drive time in my book.

Value the input so far.
Yes, PHL.
I already do the drive to JFK, and while 2.5 hours isn’t terrible as far as time... it’s just incredibly stressful due to the varying lengths of time due to horrendous traffic and numerous accidents I see ALL THE TIME. That’s what concerns me. The drive regularly eclipses three hours on Thursday and Friday. Not to mention it’s $60 round trip in gas and tolls. And also, very little growth at JetBlue, like close to net zero with a very junior pilot group.
JB definitely seems to have a better overall contract, no doubt, and a fairly well established airline, but they need to do something... there is seemingly little to no direction from leadership.
I didn’t have Frontier on my radar until I heard PHL opened. And with it being so junior versus reserve in JFK, seems worth considering.

A new hire at JB will sit reserve for a long time. If he lives 2.5 hours away from base, that's not exactly a good quality of life. If he lives 40 minutes from one of our domiciles, that makes reserve a breeze.
Don't let you anger cause you to give bad advice.
Everyone in this industry knows the best places to work is the airline with the domicile where you live. Commuting to reserve in NY is not a great option. I'll gladly take 10 dollars less an hour to sit reserve in my house with my family.

I suggest that you take the time to personally speak with any individuals whom you may know at Frontier. Preferably, ones who are more rational then emotional. The majority of the responses you will probably get on this forum are from very “Pro” contract individuals or very bitter and vocal “No” voters. The majority of us, have our opinions, but they are more tempered. Also, please remember, we have just finished a very contentious period in our Airlines history. It will take a little while before things return to normal. That being said, there are pro’s and con’s to each decision. Think about what you value most, then decide accordingly. Good luck with with your decision.
