And the desire is to reduce bases while increasing fleet size?

.

I agree with this statement. It would’ve made more sense for him to say “too many bases, and we need more multi day trips.”

unless you’re planning on getting more real estate at the hubs to park planes overnight, or you plan on dramatically increasing redeye flights, I’d be interested to see how you get those two thinks to coincide

he might be planning on increasing utilization somehow. But, he somehow has to determine which routes will be profitable. And that’s a story as old as time with this company.

If we want to increase utilization, besides the obvious fly more on T/W/S I would guess more redeyes are coming.

yeah napkin math aside, he must be looking at stats and spreadsheets from his department heads that leads him to this conclusion.

the only problem with t/w/s is it’s gotta be profitable. Obviously. If Barry can’t make those days profitable, just by virtue of changing CEOs won’t. So again, you gotta find profitable routes on those days to support increased utilization.

as long as he doesnt close any bases, if he’s got a viable plan for this company, thats his job to run it profitably.

I look forward to what they come up with. Cautious optimism.

So, the data is out there. You can go to flight aware, etc to see which routes have the most passenger travel. Profitability is something more obviously but it's not rocket science.

It's mind boggling when you think about the size of this airline - we have less than 2500 pilots and 175 airplanes. We are basically the size 2/3 the size of Skywest. We might be as large as DL's Atlanta operation. How freakin hard is it to realize which days of our few routes are the most profitable? It's 2026 - AI could probably tell us this in a couple of microseconds. We still haven't head sh!t from the new CEO or the Union MEC. I mean, WHO DOES THAT?

You get a new CEO and he sends out a letter thanking the previous and mentioning how happy he is to be the new man in charge and that's it?

Don't hold your breath for the "30 Day plan" from JD. As MM stated "We owe him [JD] 30 days..." What a disappointing and absolute blunder. Has informational picketing resumed? Or do we "owe" JD a delay in picketing as well?

They "owe" us a damn contract.

It’s running about as on time as our operations. 😅

was just going to say it’s def been more than 30 days, probably getting closer to 2 months.

and why add more fly on slow days if they aren’t filling the planes, that’s stupid. At least the slow days give them time to fix aircraft versus running them a quarter full of pax with 6 mels.
