I don't think it's a coincidence that the two rumored bases (PHX & MIA) are both American hubs. AA has been struggling more than United and Delta lately and may allow us to come into a hub with less of a fight.

We tried to ramp up operations in ATL a few years back and Delta squashed that immediately. United has been less able to fight back, but I suspect that AA might give even less fight.

I think that as Frontier and Spirit continue to rapidly grow, there will need to be a fair amount of experimenting with routes and hubs. Trying to find which cities work well and which don't will be a constant challenge. I'm thinking that Frontier is looking for the least defensive big cities to grow (ex: not ATL)

It's interesting that there has been very little, if any, new routes announced from these cities (PHX/MIA). Maybe they will have a big route announcement and base announcement at the same time?

The plan is to shadow American at many of their hubs, drive ticket prices down, and then buy them when they go bankrupt in the next economic downturn.

Completely agree. Accept the buy them part. If we open Mia then phx over half our domiciles would mirror AMR and eventually, if that happens, rdu would cut into clt. Indigo seems to have it out for amr which makes sense given the history.

I heard they will be shrinking Denver some more with the new base bid.

Bill Franke, Doug Parker, America West, US Airways, AA. Look at the history these guys have going back over the years.

Well Denver gets robbed every time to staff a new base, but ostensibly it should bounce back to it's normal shrinkage, right?

Maybe yes, maybe no. I'm surprised denver has been kept as large as it has.

It seems like I'm flying to PHX once a week. Last week when I was there, 4 Frontier birds parked at the gates. Indigo HQ in PHX, following AA, planes are full. PHX makes the most sense to me.
