do you know why they aren’t being considered? Or have they just not heard anything yet?

So you're saying go get the 500 PIC before going to a regional? Thanks for the response!

I'm a mil pilot with a R-ATP. Not quite at 1500 total and don't have 500 PIC (lots of time spent behind a desk in my career). Been eyeing regionals but considering doing something else like caravans first to get the PIC minimums and best build my resume for an interview one day. Anyone know if these are hard limits that have to be surpassed for HR to review your app? Any advice is also welcome. Thanks in advance.
Your TT and PIC time may be a little low but we absolutely ARE bringing on Mil pilots at below the published mins and with 0 121 TPIC. I know a few that are in class this summer. I would suggest getting on at a regional and build time or if you have the opportunity to fly caravans and get PIC go for it.

Do they have R-ATPs? Less than 500 PIC total in anything? Thanks!

They do not. You would need a full ATP

Look up RTAG if you haven’t heard of them yet. I’m not entirely sure what all they do but I believe they help vets with employment in aviation, among other things. The founder (or founders) are Frontier pilots. I’m sure they have the most current and best advice for you.

I guess the question is whether or not 500 PIC is a hard requirement. If not, I'll try and go straight to a regional with my R-ATP. Either way, I'll push for the mythical 1500 ASAP. Thanks for the info!

I didn't even think of that. I'll look into it, thanks!

Coming from the mil side, I'd recommend starting at a regional regardless. After seeing mil side and 121 regional, I'd say it's a risk versus reward. If you were to get picked up by a major right out of the gate (unlikely with the numbers you quoted) and pink a ride, you're toast. Several guys at the regionals went too early, pinked, and had to come back and could end up stuck in regional land. I'd say looking back, I'm glad I started at a regional even though I possibly could've went straight to a major. Unfortunately, most of the rotary guys were the ones who struggled the most. They were smart people, no doubt, but just weren't used to how fast things come at you in a jet and mentioned this specifically (multiple individuals saying basically the same).

Good luck

I got hired with 7000 hours, of which most heavy time on the 787. I’ve seen some amazing pilots as cadets on the 787, with less than 300 hour time that have their stuff together but not that much experience, can you blame them? No. I’ve also seen some awful pilots with 12,000 hours that couldn’t find an MEL if their life depended on it in a short period of time.

Thats interesting because I have heard and seen the exact opposite of that. I think there was even a chart from regional airline training departments that rotary pilots performed better and had a higher pass date then straight civilian pilots. Either way, the ones I’ve flown with may have said it’s faster but they were still competent as a any civilian pilot.
