Did the same thing, except it was in the $80k range. Have a buddy going through the process and is about to take a $130k hit. Still worth it. Suffer financially for a year...maybe 2 years, but the long term financial gain and immediate QOL boost compared to even some of the best corporate gigs make the jump worth it.

I also took a massive cut of 80k+ and aside from the first two years on the OLD contract life is night and day better. The job itself even during negotiations was better, just not the pay part. This year W2 showed over 200k. I was never going to make that at the old job. I didn’t add per diem or 401k in either. My wife scolds me now for not bailing sooner.

This.

“But honey, I had to buy the purse, it was on sale!”

Ovarian Logic.

Having the same issues right now. One minute everything is all good, then one minute she’s all upset about how it’s going to be. Emotional and short term thoughts on her part. Sorry starting to vent. Good to hear we all have similar issues.

Default Any F9 Guard/Reserve?

I know every company “has” to abide by federal regs regarding mil leave, but I’m interested in hearing from any current F9 Guard/Reserve pilots, what the company attitude is towards it? I know some companies are “friendlier” than others when it comes to mil leave.

From what I’ve been told they’re great about it. I know a few pilots that take it often. Our system Chief pilot is also military. I’ve heard only good things from others. I’m sure there are many on here that can share there personal experiences though.
