As long as they have the hours to qualify for the U.S. ATP, they can get their ATP based on their Australian license.

I don’t think that’s correct. Pretty sure they have to do ATP-CPT, written, foreign license validation, and a check ride.

What an absolute embarrassment of an operation Frontier has become. A major airline hiring E3 pilots?? Pathetic.

Jules you would be correct... We had a number of "Non-USA" drivers get their FAA ticket... As you said they did the USA ATP/CPT... Had their Foreign ATP verified by the FAA follow by a ATP check ride in the Sim or aircraft of their choosing... Most did the sim one guy used a light twin... Buyers choice...

What you see as a joke I see as smart outside the box thinking. I may be wrong but the company that hires you with an E3 visa requires you to only be employed by them. The person with the e3 visa can’t go work some place else in the USA unless they get another e3 visa from that company. This helps them from losing pilots to other major carriers. This equals growth and helps quell pilots leaving at such a fast pace.

Yep, that's what I was talking about. the check ride comes after they go through the airlines training program and fly for that airline only. I think it's valid for 3 years.

But I really don't understand why Frontier feels they need to resort to this, when they're going to become the fifth largest airline in the US... Last time I checked there are many, many qualified and great regional pilots eager to get out of the regionals.
5th largest doesn’t change the contract until it does. And until then the contract at both spirit and frontier is sub par in many many ways so we will continue to lose people. Foreign pilots generally can’t leave and often don’t make waves. They also vote yes to just about anything. The perfect candidate for management.

The less we can recruit the more leverage we have. This isn’t a good thing for the joint pilots.

I don’t know about you but I don’t come to work for the love of flying I can do that at the local airport. I come to get rich or die trying while having as much time off as possible. Anything that impedes that is problematic. This program is a hurdle.

Totally agree. The E-3 Visa is valid for 2 years at a time. Frontier is taking Australian's who have been generally flying in the USA for 4-5 Years now and with only a few hundred around most won't choose to come across to Frontier. I would be surprised if Frontier get more than 200 Australian's in the next 2 years to fill spots. If Frontier want to slow attrition they need to start increasing the pay rates.
