my buddy in corporate America works 40 hours in one day and gets 6 days off !

he said his QOL is amazing ! "nowhere else" can he get "this time off"

he said his boss calls it "efficient" and is threatening to "take this great benefit away" if the troops revolt or get restless

40 hours in one day.

Reminds me of a friend who was a construction manager.

He had a sign on his wall of his office, “If it can’t be done working 24 hours a day, then start working nights.”

The grass isn't always greener in some ways, but in a majority, I think the legacies just run a smoother operation overall due to the nature of not trying to cut costs at every turn.

Yeah, waiting 40 mins at 5:45am for MX to return a plane to service even though they had the paperwork at 5:15am confirming the MX was done is something that is annoying. Not having bottled water in base is ridiculous. Dealing with gate agents and public perception on a daily basis is annoying. Waiting for gate space, rampers, etc.

I would be way more concerned about these things if they were something that wasn't able to be fixed when some beancounter in corporate realized they lose more money because of these things and decided to fix them the next month. So much our issues are due to running a lean staffed operation. The typical "stepping over dollars to pick up pennies" deal.

You don't get bottled water, in a base? And you're saying your QOL is unmatched at a legacy? Seriously? Your day trips are so precious that it makes up for every shortcoming I could think of at an airline? I have a family member that just got hired here which is why I'm in this thread trying to read up on F9 and you're saying you don't get catering? Does that get resolved in a timely fashion?

But do you do day trips?

Yes we have our shortcomings and they are frustrating. Everyone's situation and needs are different. Yes, sometimes we don't get catered properly and they say they're out of stock - it sucks, no excuses. But I'm not going to trade the company's inability to do something out of my control to commute to 4 day trips and sleep in a hotel/crash pad half the month.

<1 year on property and spent 2 nights in hotel this month, driving to base.

It is what it is sometimes. First time I have personally dealt with the water issue. Usually, it has been ice or trash bags for the carts.

If your family member is commuting(or lives in DEN), its probably best going to a legacy instead. But living in base, I really enjoy it.

I do mostly 2 day trip or day trips out of the west coast for CRJdriver. I will take 3 days for specific layovers, usually to see family or a long tropical layover. I do have 1 four day trip this month though which is with a LCP. It absolutely is not exclusively day trips though.

My family member will be commuting actually at first out of the midwest. I believe he'll move to a base pretty quickly when his lease is up.

the point was base for base and my situation. so yeah, in that case, F9 is significantly better than Delta for what I want.

It is a weird situation not hating my job I guess...

Holy ****, you are the master of shilling for frontier.

You mention this like you know something we don't. People have been here their entire career waiting for that "next" beancounter to come in a fix. Chances are, you and I could both do a 25 maybe even 30+ year career here waiting for the changes that never come.

Hey, if you're actually a pilot here who's happy (and not a mgt troll), that's cool. You're either the reincarnation of Ted Lasso or you are just one of those types of people who likes to look on the bright side of everything. The world needs people like you - truly.

I think the one thing you should realize that w/o people who AREN'T like you - people who have a little more SA about what it going on around them and how not so bright things tend to be - you would be severely taken advantage of. You need someone who's willing to fight for more instead of saying "aw shucks it's not so bad" despite the walls being on fire around them. Ultimately, you and I could fly together and probably have a pretty decent time, but when it comes to the contract, if you're willing to vote yes on some sh!t cuz your ability to drop/swap/trade and vacation slide are better than average, you will NEED me to vote no for better rates so that people will come here and stay in the first place (and we can continue to exist as an airline).

Not trying to sound condescending or scold as we're in this together but some of your rhetoric is very concerning...

Forest for the trees.
