I'm not angry, but compared to every other airline's MEC, our lack of response to this summer's performance should be notable.
Negotiations have literally just begin. Give them a chance to play all their cards. I do see your point though of course |

Interesting. I thought about it a little differently. Only growing the airline by 20 per month so half the growth would be captains hence the 10 captains. But your mention of captains leaving does cause a problem with my basic formula.

Here’s some iffy assumption riddled math. Let’s say we can train roughly 57 every 3 weeks. That works out to ~75 a month. Let’s say we lose 40 a month plus another 5 washouts. That’s a gain of 30. Leaving upgrade at 15 a month. We’re gonna grow at a snails pace if at all. It’s not good enough.

Is training actually a backlog or are we guessing? I have no idea.

It is pretty backlogged, barely any sims available, along with people leaving mid training for other airlines, and the failure rate for checkrides has gone up to more than 3 a class.

OK, can I ask that you substantiate that? Three initial checkride failures per class?

yeah, initial failures is on the rise for the last 6 months or so.
I have no numbers to back that up, but if only 3 out if 50+ are failing their checkrides then the sim instructors need a raise |
May be anecdotal but the few in my class that did not pass their initial check ride got retrained and passed. Nobody was fired.

Don't forget, management does not want us here. BL has stated many times that they want pilots here for 3 years and that's it. After 3 years, they want us gone. They have no interest in making this a career airline because they do not want career pilots here. Financially, they want a revolving door where nobody stays. Do don't hold your breath. It'll be contract 2030.
