overstaffed companies do not hire actively pilots or have recruiting events.

We were overstaffed this Spring.

That no longer appears to be the case. And yes, obviously the company trying to hire 60 / month is proof of the situation.

A few posts above someone made the point that aircraft orders do not necessarily equal growth. I wanted to respond to that point. The aircraft orders are real and they are coming and that's the best possible thing for us. It's going to yield us both a contract and growth. The company had real pressure to fill the pilot seats. The combination of growth and attrition is the prefect situation for us.

Huh? I’m pretty sure all companies except FedEx are represented at OBAP, GPA, RTAG, ect. and as far as I know all are involved in the collegiate level of recruiting now.

He wasn’t wrong until this past week. The failures are with our operation, not staffing levels….but it’s getting closer to both.

To hit a previous topic I also came here for the QOL but will stay and fight for equality in pay. Unicorn #3 I think it is? Greater risk in staying but greater reward potential for my particular situation. Had I been in Denver or Chicago I would have bailed by now. But QOL has a much larger factor than I have seen given credit for so far in the threads. We see it with the amount of FOs that bypass upgrade at any airline.

The order and planes are real - yes of course. The destination being those which F9 was supposed to get is not. That can change with a pen swipe. Indigo makes money on the aircraft purchase regardless of where they go.

it’s mostly guess since our mec is pretty useless. NK get an email every month with the number of people who resigned and where their going.
for some reason our union is just to scared of the company to say anything.
As for how many. About 30 a month. Last month was a little slower 26 was the flica number. But it was a summer month. Hiring was a little slower elsewhere. This month we are already at 29. Good chance we will be at 40 by the end of the month.

Boy, ain't that the truth. Horrid summer meltdown and they completely missed the boat on any campaign.

Can we please direct anger towards the company and not the union?

We are starting negotiations off on the wrong foot here guys

From August 1 to August 21 (today). 29 have left the seniority list, I'd expect another 5-6 more by this Friday. I'm not sure if any are retirements.

On May 24 we had 1976 pilots on Flica, and now we have 2035. So, a net of 59 pilots in about 90 days or 20 a month.

I'm not angry, but compared to every other airline's MEC, our lack of response to this summer's performance should be notable.

In July BL said that round of 8 upgrades would be the last small bid. Moving forward they would be 24. The 10 is not even close and it’s just to replace captains that are leaving. This is a pretty big tell to me. They do not currently have the training capacity to out hire attrition for our growth. That or he was lying which is entirely possible too

Interesting. I thought about it a little differently. Only growing the airline by 20 per month so half the growth would be captains hence the 10 captains. But your mention of captains leaving does cause a problem with my basic formula.
