When does CLE open? Was it March?

I think that we will see a small displacement from every base to open Chicago and Cincinnati. I don't know how you staff two new bases that are served by every domicile without shrinking all the other bases. I would expect to see a small displacement from PHL, MCO, TPA, DEN at the least.
I hope so. The problem is between the Flying, Reserve requirments ,and the in ability to Hire, or retain pilots . My money is on MCO. It is the only base stocked with enough pilots that is not Denver.

The whole thing is sad I really though when I came to F9 I woulden't be forced to bounce around the Country like this any more. I just got bounced out of Vegas and now it looks like soon I will be Bounced out of MCO. Feels like I am running out of gas with no where to land.

What's the deal with this NDA? Is this standard practice in negotiations? The company is sending out emails practically crying about how the union won't sign this. 1. Maybe they don't want the pilots to know that they have NO interesting in passing an industry standard contract. If the pilots think we're negotiating in good faith, they won't leave. 2 They really want to get something ironed out quickly to stop the legacies from stealing our newly trained pilots. 3. They want an NDA to protect their financials from an upcoming merger. 4. All smoke and mirrors like usual.

Given what I’ve been told about all previous negotiations number 1 and 4 sound about right 😂

We have to wait for Allegiant's contract to see what we might get.

Definitely 1 & 4 based on everything else that happens here on a daily basis.

Do you have any insight on what's going on with Allegiants negotiations?

CVG and RDU do seem like logical next bases. LGA will be entirely dependent on the merger so that's an unknown for now.

I can see the company wanting to follow the Allegiant model to an extent, the question is how much? I wonder how many domiciles Allegiant has and how many destinations they serve? Also, I wonder how thin their reserve coverage is in small bases? If you rely on the premium folder maybe you can get away with very little reserve coverage?

In my mind, the only reason not to have 15 domiciles is having to carry 15 sets of reserves. But if almost all the trips are day turns, getting them covered is much easier. Calling out for a day turn vs a 3 or 4 day trip that criss-crosses the whole country is much easier for the company to cover. Or you just offer up a premium trip to cover the sick call one day and you don't need to use any reserves vs the 3 or 4 day sick call that frequently uses 2 reserves to cover.

It's pretty easy to see how recovering from a disruption is much easier. I just didn't think they ever cared about that lol.

All of this discussion makes me wonder why the big airlines don't do more domiciles? We have domiciles that are dwarfed by the number of legacies overnighting and yet its not a base for them.
we have 24 bases and sitting reserve in a small base is incredibly easy - some senior pilots bid reserve in small bases because they are rarely called; recently we had senior pilots in a small base who were called out just to get their landings for currency.

reserve in Florida is the opposite: basically h*ll. We have bases at six airports and reserves get jerked around in FL to cover the flying.

small bases make the company over staff on reserves which is why the QOL is so good for reserve in small bases.

we also fly way less than you all do. Utilization is nearly double at F9 than G4. Anyway just came across this and thought I’d respond to a couple of your queries.

our union president has been releasing a lot of videos and communications the last couple weeks saying huge progress is being made and we should have a deal soon.

up until two weeks ago we the union was telling us how bad negotiations are going, but then a surprise union election was scheduled and now we are being told negotiations are going great.
