yeah that was a typo, meant 438. Which is still insanely junior for a CA. especially since many came in with Ratp mins and got their 1000hrs and now can ugprade at 2k TT, deiced once, flew one season of thunderstorms and bad weather. Thrown right into SJU with multi leg redeyes in central america and the caribbean with another RATP guy at 1100TT.

I don't think its dramatic at all. We are sending these new guys into challenging airports with 3 page memos and some pictures while they are at the worst performing point of their circadian rhythm. It isn't like they get a sim check and session dedicated to teaching them the issues and awareness for the airport or route.
