F9 pays $37 per hour vs. $31 at CAL. You're an Idiot if you don't care about first year pay and think $30K 1st year is OK. Either that or single still living at mom and dad's in a low cost living area. Get a clue man. In Denver, nurses and teachers make more than $30K right out of college. When hired at F9 you'll have at least 5-10 years of professional piloting experience behind you. How much should that garner yourself then?

That all being said, I was disappointed to see that F9 lowered first year pay. However, I do give you points that you're still higher than most of the majors.

F9 guys, SW is on your playground. Your dance partners are knocking on the door. sorry.

I totally disagree with this. I got a call to interview and turned it down since they cut the first year pay. Why is it that people think it is OK to cut first year pay (is it because 1st year guys dont vote? and the 2nd and 3rd + guys dont want to take as big a cut?) Why should a qualified guy take a 50% cut to go to a bigger airline? You dont see that in other industries.

It's the nature of the beast. For me to worry over my first year pay (assuming the long term pay scale works), one year of a 20 year or longer career, makes zero financial sense. Of course one could take it even further and say then just fly for free your first year, or on the other hand if you're very senior at a regional you'll never leave because your first year pay anywhere, will never come close to what you're making now. It's a balance. For me it's acceptable, for you it isn't.

Is everyone aware that Republic and Frontier are both held by Wexford Capital LLC? Republic is not going to be planning Denver as one of the biggest bases with a failing airline. Rumors are rumors but this merger has some teeth too it. We are currently sending I believe 17 airplanes out to Denver. I think they have 8 now.

Rumor has it that F9 will not survive another year with oil prices being where they are.. they have to be bought or just end up in bankruptcy
