How things have changed, especially since 911. In the mid '90's I was on reserve in NY. My airport car needed some repairs so I hauled my toolbox into the cockpit and said: "Capt, can I get a ride to work"? Of course he looked at my toolbox and I explained how my 76 Impala needed new rear wheel seals! He said: Come'on aboard!

That Impala was a great airport car!

I've gate checked a bicycle on Frontier before I'm sure golf clubs would be no different. We should be able to bring them back up for you also. If its my flight and you are the only jumpseater I don't mind if we keep them up front. Properly secured of course.

The answer is yes. I have checked in my golf clubs on Frontier more than once while off line jump seating. I would definitely get a hard sided travel carrier if you don't already have one. This is probably common sense which is why I didn't get one the first time I checked them. Oops... a new 3 wood later I learned why you want a hard sided travel case(that happened on United not F9).
