A few questions for Frontier guys:

I'm aware of the 401k plan, but is there a Defined Contribution plan? I had read something about 2.2%?
I assume no Profit Sharing?
What is upgrade? APC says 2007, but I've heard 2012.
When in 2017 is the contract amendable?
Thanks

The 401k: the company will match 50% up to 10% of your pay. So basically you contribute 10% and they add 5% on top of that.

The defined contribution plan ranges from 2% to 6%. It does not kick in until 2 years, and then it starts at 2% and goes up 1% a year until you hit 6%. Combined, the company contributes a maximum of 11% of your salary to retirement, plus you have to put in 10% of your own to get the full match from the company.

Upgrade time is getting shorter and shorter. It was about 10 years, but now it's looking to be about 2.5 or less. The first class of new hires was Sept 2013 (in a long time) and they are about 2 upgrade classes away, or possibly will be awarded upgrade in the next bid with a few senior guys bypassing.

I think the contract is amendable March 2017. I think...

I think this is what you meant, but just to clarify for folks: The 401k matching is 50% ($0.50 on $1.00) up to 5% compensation. Since the matching is only 50% you need to contribute 10% yourself if you want the full 5% company match. This is an area I don't think gets enough attention and desperately needs improvement.

Just throwing this out there... When in aviation history have 2 profitable airlines merged??... I get that we both fly airbuses... I get that we are both ulcc... Why does that matter? Qdoba and chipotle are both decent, "quick" Mexican food places... They both make money and no one talks about them merging... I might be comparing apples to cactii but just because we do very similar things doesn't mean they need to mash us together... If the whole point of the ulcc is to do things as cheaply as possible, a merger would drive the casm through the roof, at least temporarily...

They bought them... SW wanted some of their routes and they got a monster influx of airplanes and pilots... They weren't forced or merged together and I'm honestly not sure if they were profitable... There is a lot about this that makes sense but I don't see it happenening, if it ever does, for a good while... We're both growing and we're both making money... I know this is a stupid question after 10 years in the airlines, but if it ain't broke, why fix it??

Haha, exactly! Rumors get around airlines faster than they do in high school. I love it. One time (@ my previous airline) something awesome happened to my crew on the overnight. The story beat us back to the crew room.
