I'm not really sure, but I imagine it's a lot easier if you live in-base and can accept junior assignments on your days off. During the busier summer schedules you could probably break guarantee. It just depends on the staffing levels vs. available flying and that changes all the time. One nice thing about reserve here is that you are allowed to put in pick-up requests from open-time the day before reserve.

Barley,
If you had a choice and were given a magic wand that would allow you to maintain your same seniority at any of the low cost carriers you mentioned, JetBlue, Virgin, or Allegiant would you choose a different one? Or, would you stay at Frontier? Just curious. I used to jumpseat a lot on you guys and I always walked away with a good impression of the pilot group. Thanks.

Reserves get a minimum of 12 days off per month (and you can expect that on all the reserve lines). You can bid for short call (2-hour call out), medium call (10-hour call out), and long call reserve (12-hour call out). Most of the newhires have gotten their first choice for base assignment. We have DEN and MDW/ORD.

Thanks Barley. What is the typical line holders schedule. I asking because I was 121 regional and hated the 5-2. Currently at a 135 who likes to push 6-9 days in a row. When I look at that it makes 121 schedules look calm somewhat.
