Commute from NYC to DTW or ORD
#11
You should get your priorities in order. Not wanting to take a month or two to study for a GED is extremely shortsighted. Wanting to commute out of NYC to work for G7 is odd. Wanting to commute out of NYC to fly a 700 is one of the dumber things I’ve ever heard of. Get your GED and go to a regional that is right in your backyard. Oh, and also had the 1st and 2nd best pay rates in the regional industry. Holy moly man.

Thanks for the responses. The reason I don't apply to EDV/Republic/Envoy is because I can't at the moment. Long story short, I went to school overseas and I'm told to take the HISET or GED to qualify (even though I have a college degree). It wasn't something I anticipated until sending airline applications... I'll do it, but it may require a few months of studying. In the meantime, I want to be flying. CommutAir and GoJet are happy to hire me as is.
And yes, the slightly longer jets are the reason why I'm asking. A friend currently flies for GoJet and told me I would be crazy to go for a E145 over the CRJ700/900.

My personal advice however is to buckle down and get the GED done, otherwise life/work may get in the way and you won’t get around to it. Do it while you’re hungry and it will take half the time.

If you have an “ego” based on what 50-76 seat regional jet you’re flying then you’ve got some problems. Never understood the people who will go to a clearly inferior company because of a piece of metal. So dumb. The 175 guys who think they’re mainline because their engines are underwing is so funny it hurts from laughing.
