Default New Hire FO Schedule

Hello, As a new hire based in EWR how many hours a month do you think I’ll log?
I live close to base.
I will probably hit the line in October. Still Captain heavy?
Thank you.

I've been taking some random peeks at Flightaware G7 tracking, they seem to have 4-6 airplanes airborne at a time. This morning they launched 5 airplanes during the morning rush.

Planespotters says 34 of the 67 planes are parked. That is 50% parked.

Sounds good to me, just as long as the pay checks still come through. I have other business interests other than flying anyway.
I live close to EWR so it should work out for me just fine.

Being paid 75 hours for only flying 10-20 is a nice hourly average rate. That means a $90/hour pay rate means you're getting $337/hour if only flying 20 logable hours. The downside is how patient you are to build the logable hours needed to be eligible for a mainline carrier interview. I also applied to GoJet and would only accept offer if I can take EWR as my base as well. I'd ideally prefer more hours but I realize you start low. I, too, can keep my other source of income going until I'm getting more actual flying hours but I do want to be able to build time to move onto heavier metal than RJs.

Got a buddy who is a new STL-based FO at GoJet and they are flying the hell out of him. I think he sat reserve for one month out of IOE and had an 80-hour credit line almost immediately and for the forseeable future. This was in the last 2 months.

For what it's worth.

Sounds like things are turning around and Gojet is the place to be! So glad they are successful!

It really hasn't been all that bad. Was in a February class and have been on the line for a couple of months now. I was expecting training to be a nightmare after seeing so many people on APC and Reddit complain about it, but it was honestly great training, and the oral/checkride was a breeze. I don't have any big complaints.
