I agree that the electronic books are great, and I see no real problem with using them exclusively, however, I was simply stating my experience for those who actually consider getting rid of the hand written version all together. As far as padding the logbook, you can definately add hours to a handwritten book, however, in an electronic one you can go back to the beginning of your book and add all of the time that you want. This could add up to hundreds of hours depending on what year your logbooks begin. I understand that a logbook doesn't make a pilot honest, but the interviewer does not know you well enough to make the determintation what kind of person that you are.

Anyway, not trying to be argumentative, just trying to point out the danger of not maintaining both versions. It doesn't take much time to write the numbers in at the same time you type them into your computer and then you don't have to hope the question doesn't come up later.

I can tell you first hand the UPS, FDX, and SWA have no problem with computerized logbooks(but always bring your originals!). I emailed my file to Kinko's. They printed and bound it for $14 and I can easily add pages when I need to.

I'll stick with paper. With 4 military and 3 civilian logbooks to transpose, the effort isn't worth the payoff.

Yes that would definitely suck, and I thought 600 hours was bad enough!

That was kind of what I was thinking. I just like the fact that my electronic log is sooooo much neater. I still have all the notes from my training days in the electronic one. So I guess they could look at the paper one, it's just going to be missing a couple hundred hours.

Any one have any experience with electronic logs and XJT interviews. I am really only even thinking of applying there. Either that or just wait for my part time Corp gig to become full time. Not sure yet.

Thanks for the help guys.
