Spelling counts gentlemen. We all want to make $250,000/yr. How's that going to happen if we can't field an educated negotiation team? If this guy is representative of the caliber of "educated" pilots entering the field, WE ARE SUNK.

Like I said, I'm sorry. I could not help myself. Now why don't you stop enabling guys like this?
I agree. The profession needs tangible barriers to entry beyond credit approval. Until then, our ranks will be flooded with simpleton proletariats happy to fly a jet for minimum wage. "It beats working for a living," right?

That would explain the creativity in the original thread title ("WTF"), your inability to use the search feature, and ignoring a dedicated forum on the Age 60 topic.

There is a wealth of info available already posted on this site, as well as many pilots who are willing to share insight on this, and many other topics. As a suggestion, you'll get a much better responce if you spend some time and read some background before posting a shotgun "feed me" style question.

Mike734. For the most part I would thank you for answering the questions that I had posted. Judging by the fact that you are an MD-80 captain, you probably have a wealth of knowledge that should be shared with those that are currently very junior to yourself. And I agree with you that the current airline industry (that of which I am not apart of yet) has been over run by idiots. And I believe that you are one of them. To sit there and blast me in public concerning my grammar, and to call me an idiot, well sir I must applaud you and your excellent professionalism inside and outside the flight deck! Therefore, I will be considering your comments as a personal attack. If you have a comment to make to me, please PM me. And I will return your messages in a timely manner. Lastly, instead of being an arrogant, egotistical, pompous, horses ass. How bout sharing some of your knowledge about the industry with those of us who could use it, I mean is it that much easier to complain about new guys, instead of sharing some advice that could keep them out of places like MESA?

I would like to apologize to the entire forum for the ignorance that is displayed in the beginning of this thread. I was really worn out and tired and just wanted to have a little light shed on why ALPA went against a 60% or more vote of its members.

And mike if there are any grammatical errors in this post, how bout you correct it, get it back to me, and ill post it again.

I don't mind people chastising the uneducated since the uneducated are the ones undercutting pilot wages and bringing the profession down as a whole. Then you look at the guy's screen name and he's obviously an ERAU (College) dropout now trying to become a 300 hour wonder at ATP...fabulous.
Obviously an ERAU (college) drop out. Actually I just gradated on May 5, with a BS in AS. This can actually be considered BS in itself, since I bought in to the lie that is ERAU and looking back I should have chosen a different route. But I’m happy to say that I have several MBA programs that I have been looking into to help further my education. And concerning me being a 300 wonder just broke 350 and I feel that I am no where near ready to sit right seat in a regional or commuter aircraft. That’s why I would like to go out and build some time. Thanks for serving our country, I’ve been trying to get a flight slot, but the paperwork is kind of slow. And as for your cheap shot towards me, next time you have a brilliant comment, or just want to put it to one of those new guys, I suggest you do this. Exhale, remove your head from your bowels, slowly extend your torso upwards, tilt your head back and breath deeply, this should get you some clean old fashioned oxygen and help you get over being an ass!

So you stayed at ERAU but didn't get the ratings? Educate me. Private MEL and Instrument MEL (which you misspelled) aren't Type Ratings either. Sorry about the last sentence, should have toned it down..but I still don't get it...finish degree at Riddle but still have to go to ATP for Ratings, that must really suck.

I simply got tired of getting screwed by the flight department. Due to a new computer based scheduling system, it took a year to finish the private multi. So I went across the field and got the single engine instrument taken care of. Then do to a family crisis I had to move home and finished up my degree online, while working and flying at ATP.

And I thought it said ratings, not type ratings.

Yeah Ive been screwed over several times.

OK, you're making sense now. And since you have a degree you do not fit into the category most of us are ranting about.

Yes us military guys and civilians trained by military guys (any 121 pilot) are very nit-picky about everything...its that whole Attention to Detail mantra that's drilled into us our whole career...but it keeps us alive. And I have been known to mix my there's and their's during tired late night posting too.

For your situation, you're on the right track, although I would recommend that when you go for your first flying job, that you have someone proof-read your resume.

Well, if the paperwork goes through and you get through the board, drop what you're doing with ATP so you don't lose any money...you'll get all your ratings after UPT, and can use your GI Bill to get that MBA. The FAA is proposing that Military Instructors get their CFI too.
