He was the Chief Pilot of the 777 fleet and was terminated a couple of days ago. The PM is/was a training captain and has been sent back to the line for 6 months. They are both appealing the decision.

I didn't say I was smarter than you. I didn't say it was unsafe either. I simply said his job was to get the jet home safely and that taking unnecessary risks in aviation are rarely rewarded. I dare say the sacked gentlemen will sadly have to agree with me on that one. Even if the CEO was in the cockpit, it doesn't mean that he approved of it.
A good marketing stunt? Boeing doesn't want that kind of marketing and I doubt that more people would want to fly Cathay after seeing the flyby.
