"Perhaps we tend to see our own situations with coloration and bias, that is to be expected and is normal"
Especially when your 18...
"What about laid off or retired guys? Should they step aside? How about the fractional and 135 people? Should we exclude them as well?"
Under the "airline pilot" forum heading, there are subforums which include some of your catagories. Perhaps the main heading would be better named "propilots", then have the subcatagories. As to the rest of your question, there is good in bad in seeking "purity" by having some sort of restrictions to who can post where. I see your point and I see the point of the folks who started this site and run it the way they do. Maybe you should talk to them. Like I said about three times so far, though, many people are able to post where ever they want regardless of background. As long as said people don't cause a problem, it's no big deal.

My suggestion is that if you want censored and controlled information then perhaps you should stick to company and union media.

Whatever sky.....
I'm just trying to answer your question. There other sites you could go to if you don't like how this one is run.
If you have further comments about this, please direct them to the appropriate admins. That would be HSLD or Freight Dog. Talking about those issues here is pointless and out of the context of your thread.

SkyHigh,
I personally have no problem with you participating in these (or any other) forums. What I do have an issue with is you "preaching" your experience as an airline pilot as if it is the be all end all, particularly without making it clear that you have been out of the industry for several years now.
This industry changes on a monthly basis- sometimes even a span of a few days can significantly change the atmosphere of the industry.
I no longer offer my advice about regional airlines or major carriers to people who ask. Why? Because in the almost three years since I pushed back from a gate, a LOT has changed, both from an operational standpoint and a human standpoint.
I'll readily concede that you have had experiences that I have not. However your experiences don't necessarily apply to today's environment- a lot has changed since you hung up your hat.
There's nothing wrong with providing some counterpoint to all of these so called "18 year olds" who apparently don't have a clue. But along with that counterpoint you also need to be sharing the fact that you don't have anything near an insiders viewpoint of life at a carrier in the contemporary industry.

Full time line pilots people tend to put the blinders on or do not have a good perspective on the overall condition of the profession since they can not afford to see the down sides and have little to compare it with. I am fee to have a contrarian opinion since my income does not rely on it anymore.
My position is that a lot has changed in professional aviation and most of it does not offer much promise to the future.
