Default State of the Union

Watching the rerun now. Who saw it? What did you think, especially in regards to impacts on our industry? (Constructively, please)

Watched. Thought what I usually do of these speeches. Lots of good sentiment and intent. Like a Christmas greeting card.

Good for me since my significant other is a science teacher. I have no problem not being the bread winner of the family. Not sure what to think about the high speed rail to 80% of the nation. Just today I read an article (on here of course) about how high speed rail is a flop. Although he made a good point... no pat down on trains. At least until some one puts a bomb on one.

But again, SotU addresses I don't fear one way or another. I see it just as a lot of sentiment. Action is a whole different story.

Bombs on trains have the same effect they do on planes (Madrid 2004).

I think snipe was making the point that TSA, or government agencies, seem to focus on the Airlines solely. If anything terrorist related were to happen on a train, then the focus would shift there.

It's kind of taking a reactive approach, as opposed to a proactive one, something we have done a lot of in the past.

I,ve always been curious about that kind of wait and see mindset over the years and the harm that it causes after the fact.

That's what I was thinking as well.

"Kabuki is therefore sometimes translated as "the art of singing and dancing." These are, however, ateji characters which do not reflect actual etymology. The kanji of 'skill' generally refers to a performer in kabuki theatre. Since the word kabuki is believed to derive from the verb kabuku, meaning "to lean" or "to be out of the ordinary", kabuki can be interpreted as "avant-garde" or "bizarre" theatre."

What the President proposed last night is completely irrelevant because all appropriations (spending) begins with the House of Representatives which is solidly controlled by Republicans for the next two years. Remember the government shutdown in 1995 with the Gingrich House and Clinton Presidency? That's the future right now.

I think the harm is quite evident given the attacks over the past few years.

Default Just another bad play

I used to be an avid fan of the theater, until someone told me that all of those people on the stage were just .... acting.
