I wear one under my jacket,I never wear just the sweater , it's way too cold wearing the jacket only based up north, I think they are way better than the Wana be neo matrix trench coats that most dtw/msp wear.... Those look like trash in my opinion
I wear the said trench coat. I agree it looks terrible. However, it keeps me warm and dry. Especially on walk around in the north. It usually is draped over my luggage when walking through the terminal though.

Me too! And I think I'll get some RAF wings to wear on it as well.

Hahaha!! Too funny!! Nice touch!

zondaracer 01-30-2012 01:59 AM

Haha and don't forget to add the RAF white flying gloves to match the wings.

You know what really grids my gears? People who argue about stuff that nobody cares about...seriously guys...are we really arguing over a SWEATER?! Oh, and why are you all throwing the "gay" insult around. Not professional. That crap needs to stop!

...and that is what grinds my gears...

I think the leather jackets look quite silly with a shirt, tie and dress pants .Leave those to the military, but everyone loves them.

Please, please stop wearing those horribly cheesy RAF looking sweaters with your epaulets.

Thank you

ha! I wear one in LA, with no jacket and epaulets, just to annoy people like you. If it makes you feel any better I get a lot of complements and other pilots asking where to order one. I got mine from the stopover store if anyone is wondering!

Like OMG, like those sweaters are like soo 20th century? (in a teenage girl's voice)

zondaracer 01-30-2012 01:00 PM

To be honest I think the sweater looks good, and you see them at flying schools and GA hangars all across Europe. It is also warm.

Why only RJ pilots? You do realize that that style of sweater is prevalent throughout the entire industry and have been around for a while. You also realize that everything on our uniform can trace its origins back to the military.

Your stupid posts have actually just convinced me to go buy a couple of them.

Actually, the airline pilot uniform traces its origins back to commercial maritime uniforms. There was a time when airlines were competing with ocean crossing passenger ship traffic and because of this, the airlines chose that style of uniform for marketing and image.

Now, I suppose an argument could be made that the commercial maritime uniforms have military roots, but the jury is still out. There are accounts of some pre naval merchant and exploration ships' crews that had a semblance of a uniform that indicated their position as to make it easier to bark out orders to configure all those sails. I'm a geek. That is all. Carry on.:o
