Geez, really? Worried about someone yanking yer tie and don't like clip ons? Take a tie,
tie it like you would wear it,
where it meets the back of your neck cut it in half,
tack it back together with two stitches of light cotton thread,
watch the surprised look on the face of the person who grabs it when it comes off in their hand.

That will never happen because the door is both an immoveable object and an irresistable force. It is infallible and it always will be.

When you've been through FFDO training you realize just how vulnerable you are strapped to that chair. A tie is just another advantage a terrorist has in a cockpit takeover scenario. (Or so I'm told).

And Jughead, the shirt lasts another day because the collar will stay cleaner. Did you really need me to enlighten you on that?

That's an excellent idea and probably the way all ties should be designed. Or if you are like me, just don't wear them.

So I suppose you fly around wearing a full Athletic Cup just in case the Terrorists try to kick you in the 'nads?

Puhleaze.....if you don't like wearing a tie then don't fly with one, but spare me the "It's a security issue" routine.

I'm sure he's one of the overzealous ffdo's. You know the type, NRA stickers everywhere, don't tread on me stickers, probably briefs the capt about who's in charge in the event of a security threat, etc. Lots of good guys in the program and a few, ahem "special one's"

Anyone have that ASRS report of the I think it was Challenger crew who got into a first fight? Good reading.

Tool of my day: lady who pulled up in front of me at the gas station (while I was pumping gas), and backed up almost to my front bumper...apparently expecting me to back away from the station so she could get in first.

You guys that just take your ties off are pansies. If you're going to be ready for a fight at all times, you've got to give it 100%.

Here's the CA and I last week after getting our crew meals:
