Isn't he on a special list? The all-metal Whisperjet part suggests former Eastern.

It could happen.

Flew a buddy pass on a Mad Dog flight. I asked my bud that got me the pass what was up with him later, he just rolled his eyes.

Guess a first time flyer might appreciate the banter, but I just want some quiet to get some work done on the computer. Like the passion, but like the SWA flight attendants and AM radio DJs who think they are funny, sometimes the best spiel is the one that is over quickest.

It's funny you mention that-

I've flown with a couple guys that do similar, as well as a guy that asked me what sort of mil experience I had. "none" Then continues on his PA explaining how much mil experience is in the cockpit.

Every...leg.... I heard that PA.

But, both (I'm in a small category) were excellent pilots and very enjoyable with their manner in the cockpit. While their PAs made me cringe, they were enjoyable to fly with and bought the beer on the layovers. Not all is as it seems.

I know I've been that guy with the brass and epaulets on from time to time showing up at things either as long as I can before work or directly from work... but the hat?? (If it's cool enough I always don a jacket to cover it..)

That's showing effort to say "I'm a pilot!!" rather than diving in to make sure you catch the event....

Reminds me of an old joke, sorry if you've heard it before.

You're at a cocktail party. How do you know there's an airline pilot there?

He'll tell you.

How do you know the party is half over?

The pilot will say "that's enough about me, let's talk about the airplane I fly."
