I have a general aviation buddy that always calls me "Captain" in public. It makes me cringe. Despite the situation's awkwardness, he's such a nice guy, I've never asked that he stop doing it. The title is reserved for when I am wearing the uniform at work and only at work, unless it's a phone call from crew scheduling (which I wouldn't answer anyways) or maybe... if a fellow crew member sees their "Captain" on a layover and is shallow enough not to have remembered their name.

Insisting people call you that otherwise, puts you in the same category as this nozzle... What was he ever "Captain" of??!!!!

Well, he was the "Captain" of Toni's "little boat" until she furloughed him!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Actually UVU, I already did back in August of 2012!!!!! I'd forgotten to include his name at the time! You'll find my reference to "Professor Captain Green" on page 246, post #2455 of this very thread! Yep. The same guy!

How about tools on bicycles in short sleeves and ties going door to door at Captain Green's recommendation? TOOL OF THE CENTURIES 1900's and 2000's.

Denny, Packrat, 727C47 and Dalad are spot-on and sure have separated the men from the boys......

Hopefully, the ones who "wear a costume" are very young and will mature some day soon.

Wait, he sends missionaries after people? Or proselytizes to his students?

I, unfortunately had the displeasure of being his First Officer for one single day in the early 1990's on an MD-80, during the inglorious near career ending CALite experiment. His missionaries were sicked on me only days after our flights, where I engaged with a few curled eyebrow, sideways questions about his faith, which he brought up repetitively. I am sure they were attempting my "conversion".

and L-UAL pilots wonder why L-CAL guys don't wan't their personal phone numbers and addresses published...

Be sure to show up on a checkride or IOE with that attitude in tow... then come back here and tell us all just how right you are....
