Anyone who thinks that doc martins are acceptable uniform shoes: tool.

Sorry guys, those things weren't cool in middle school and look even more horrendous now. I'd rather see you in black tennis shoes.

Where do I start? How about my FO a few weeks ago who picked up the ATIS while on decent into our destination. It gave a altimeter setting of 30.02. SLC Center gave us a decent to 15000 with a desination altimeter setting of 30.01. He proceeded to ask SLC Center which altimeter setting we should use. Center was laughing so hard he was having trouble answering us. I told the FO to please refrain from asking ATC ANY questions without consulting me first.

TOOL

Tell him to put 30.015 in the window.

I'd like to nominate the flight attendant that I let get in front of me at the airport security line right as I had everything on the belt ready to go....only for her to take what seemed 10 minutes to unload, take off, put away and empty before she passes the metal detector.....Just holding everyone up!!

Or maybe I'm the tool for letting her in the first place!!

Two more tools for the day:

The F/O who proceeds to tell me that the last captain he flew with had a bug crawling around his prepackaged airport salad while I am eating my deelicious crew meal ( thank you mrs. Parker). Tells me what type of bug, how big it was and how traumatizing for the both of them. I just said "mmm, protein".

Bigger tool: the Delta pilot that reamed ABQ center over West Texas because she was busy trying to give a clearance to a military flight on an AR route on the UHF side. If he would have only **** for a moment he would have heard that she was working the other guy on UHF and that he kept stepping on the mil guy's readback. She was already having a tough day from her voice and having Delta rag on her did not help. The ATC supe stepped in and had to explain the the reason he could not hear the other pilot was because he was transmitting on UHF. Tool.

FWIW, at Delta we're supposed to use "heavy" with ramp/GRD/TWR/APP/DEP. It's in the FOM. Or was. Haven't looked lately.

Yeah, but on the MD-80 and those (ex-NWA) DC-9's?

ThrustMonkey 04-25-2012 07:34 PM

The guys/gals using the term "TALLY HO" to confirm traffic visual. Tools.
