Definitely the most dangerous 15 minutes of my job. It was a dark humor situation watching all of us strap in at the same time. |

I feel like this guy has been profiled here already but the UAL captain who during his PA added "and in case you're wondering about your crew today ..." and then went into a minute long talk on his aviation background and each of the planes he flew in the military. The middle aged housewife in front of me put it well when she looked over at her husband and said "are any of us supposed to care about that?"
We've got a couple of those at DL, too. |

Tell them to slow down and buckle the seat belts...we had a pilot that was T boned in the crew van, never worked again.

Crew members who don't wear their seat belts in vans (or anywhere else for that matter) are TOTD candidates! I sometimes get chuckled at for always buckeling up, ESPECIALLY in Europe, where drivers are craaaaazy! Oh well, sorry I value my life! :)

Not sure if this is true, but heard that if we're in an accident in the hotel van and not wearing a seatbelt, workers comp won't cover you. Either way, I buckle up.

I must admit I am today's TOTD in order to ingrain a very important lesson for myself.
For reasons to lengthy to post, I got it into my head that our miniature schnauzer had gotten out and I spent the better part of 2 hours on foot and driving the 'hood looking for him, asking walkers/joggers if they had happened to see him, etc. He is a rescued dog and has ingrained wanderlust in him. I was SURE he was out there and getting farther and farther away. See, this was a big deal as my wife is currently out of town and would divorce me at best...and outright neuter me at worst...if anything happened to him on my watch. Anyway, I can home without finding him, thoroughly dejected and wondering how in the world I could explain to my better half what had happened without her ripping me a new one and calling the attorney. Yes, since we got him he has always had a collar with a nametag and cell # to protect against this happenstance (as well as being chipped) but that was no guarantee of getting him back. So I walk in the house and it hit me. I hadn't thought to check the house to confirm my fears before scouring the neighborhood looking for him. Sure enough, when I called to him, here he came from his lookout spot in the bedroom window. He had been inside the entire time! http://siliconangle.com/files/2011/08/homer-doh.jpg#doh :D |
