I saw one of our pilots at Costco in FULL uniform. Even the hat. My post thread would be much higher if I posted all the things I could for this guy in the TOTD thread.

At least the United guy in Walgreen's at nine pm wasn't wearing his hat.
He was three hundred miles away from the nearest United base though...
(And no, they don't fly into here.)

Maybe, just maybe, he commuted in. Lands and his wife calls him and said "hey, pick me up some cough drops on your way home". He doesn't want to change to just run in quick so he figures, even though he'll look like a tool maybe he'll just run in quick. Is it really that big of deal?

Love that bar. It's definitely an older crowd and food's good. Good bands too unless karaoke day.

Wow. And here I am, feeling toolish just for filling my car at the gas station on the way to the airport, while in uniform. Suddenly I don't feel so bad!

You guys have some psychological issues. To put gas in your car while wearing your uniform is no big deal - why would you feel like a tool? Same for judging someone for stopping in someplace on the way home real quick simply to avoid having to drive all the way home, only to turn back around and do a pointless round trip to the place you just passed. How dumb is that? For me, in some cases it could easily be a thirty minute drive one way to get to wherever I might need, and I'm not going to waste another hour or more of my life, and gasoline in the car because someone might judge me - I'm already gone from home enough. That judging individual has just become the tool. Indeed, there are fools who think they're awesome and want to show it (like Med students in my wife's class who went shopping at the mall in their white coats, or out to lunch wearing the coats), but to feel stupid for occasionally putting gas in your car or picking something up real quick, is kind of sad. Don't be so quick to rush to judgement - you may just discover that YOU are the tool. Just my two cents.

just take the epaulettes or the shirt off. I am assuming people wear undershirts.

You want me to walk into the grocery store in an undershirt and uniform pants?? Get. A. Hobby. Do you look at our military service members who might be on their way home in uniform and stop by to pick up some milk as tools too?

+1. Anyone that would say so would be the biggest tool on the planet.

That being said, I usually pack a regular light jacket, so I just put that over my uniform when I stop anywhere. Especially the liquor store
