A truer statement has never been spoken about this industry! The only thing I can add is, it's even harder when you throw a couple of furloughs in there also. The money you've saved goes away a lot faster than you saved it when unemployed and trying to get reemployed.

Jetdoc, empathy for whiners is hard to produce. Move to any of the cities that have multiple regional airline's pilots domiciled there and that has a 135 job available for you to build cross country time. You're already in a base and ALL of the regionals will be hiring for years to come. walla!

Fatsopilot, I'm with you all pilots should go to instructor training, is a good antidote against treads and errors , even if applicant fail the rides, it should be part of the curricula vital in every pilot, but some don't do it because of the hi rate of failure , I see CFI training as perfecting a skill.

Instructing teaches the instructor as much, if not more than the trainee! I can say that my instructing background (not only back in the day, but later in life as well, part 135 and 121) has contributed greatly at giving me the confidence to take bold steps in my career later in life! Don't really want to do it again, but definitely glad I did it!😀

Convince the hierarchy of some airlines who are former and current military and you will do 100 in the shade. Bring plenty of water because they won't need any.

Shortage, what shortage, it will never happen. If airlines are complaining about it is self inflicted, first HR and the clown of those department trying to figure out how faa/airline/ pilot deal works, secondly, some don't understand terms, example, checkride failures, incidents, accidents and any other. What bugs also is how some pulits feed HR with bad info so they look good to them, standard that not even can hold themselves, lastly,us, pilots is a shame how some make fun of others situation or compared,,,,guys ,,,everyone's story is different, I m still hope for a brighter future, still holding on to my dream job and quality of life , I do wish reality is spoke out instead of what this academies and colleges state,on their web sites and articles......and.......stay thirsty my friends
