First Vince Flynn and now Tom Clancy. My two favorite authors gone in the same year!

According to the scuttlebutt of the day, he - being a "nobody" back then - had to sell his rights to The Hunt for Red October for a measly $5K. I'm sure he made that up later, and then some. I always enjoyed reading his books. God rest his soul.

I enjoyed the techno-thriller author - though he was getting long winded - but who am I to critique! I also enjoyed his non-fiction books. RIP Tom Clancy.

Same here.

One of the best things is he was able to write those books with such accurate detail all before the age of the interwebz and all sort of information available at one's fingertips.

Even though all the information is "put out by the U.S. government", that's still A LOT of research and talking to people taking place outside of one's home, etc.

Bummer we were moving in June and I was too busy to catch that Vince Flynn had passed. Read all of his books and most of Clancy's.

Two great writers who have written quite a bit about special ops, divulging some quasi classified material, and both drop dead, young...

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say there's no such thing as; Coincidence!

And now Lou Reed too!
